The 'Assegaai Experience'
A true border town with many posts on the outskirts. Piet Retief was established in 1882 and named after the leader of the Voortrekkers. Located high in the mist belt on the edge of the Highveld, is the centre of a flourishing agricultural and timber industry, and surrounded by vast plantations. The town is a hub of many main routes through this area.
