The Free State, lying at the heart of South Africa is made up of five sub-regions, Motheo at the centre, Northern Free State, Thabo Mofutanyana to the east, Lejweleputswa, at the west and Xhariep to the south. Lying between the Vaal and Oranje rivers with the dams and attributes, water is an important asset to the province and has been richly exploited in the creation of wild life reserves and holiday and pleasure resorts.
The landscape of the Free State ranges from flat plains stretching as far as the eye can see, koppies and rocky outcrops, towering sandstone cliffs and weather sculpture towers of the eastern region and the marshes of the Seekoeivlei wetlands.
The cities and towns within the Free State have wealth of interests to offer. Arts, culture, history, the land and the people make the Free State the place to visit.
