Fish Hoek is best known as an ideal holiday destination for families. The long sandy beach is often sheltered from the wind and the water is warmer than the Atlantic Ocean. The commercial hub of Fish Hoek is situated along the Main Road while most of the leisure activities take place at the beach.

Fish Hoek residents are proud of their "dry town" status - there are no retail liquor outlets, but there are a number of good family restaurants in the Main Road and at the beach, where a glass of good wine can be enjoyed. Visit the Fish Hoek Valley Museum to find out more about the history and troll the second-hand bookshops and antique stores for bric-a-brac. Visitors have a variety of guest houses, a hotel, self-catering units and bed and breakfast establishments to choose from.
